Our graduate scheme is a two year leadership programme… we know that to be a great leader you’ll need really rounded experience.
That’s why you’ll have the opportunity to get stuck into our business from day one… into operations, commercial, engineering, people, marketing… the list goes on!
You’ll have real responsibility to lead a team and make commercial decisions which have a positive impact on our business at both local and national level.
Of course we won’t throw you in at the deep end without full support – a buddy, a mentor, great managers, internal training, external courses… you can count on us to give you everything you’ll need. And yes, if you want to, we’ll teach you how to drive a bus.
Throughout the programme you’ll have exposure to senior leaders including at breakfast meetings, dinners, lunch-and-learn sessions, site visits and meetings.
And at the end of the programme we’ll guarantee you a role in our business. Interestingly, five of our current MDs and 36 of our functional directors are former graduates… and you could well be adding to this amazing tally!
You’ll start off together as group, where we’ll introduce you to your buddies and the programme ahead.
Then it’s straight into one of Operating Companies, spending time in operations, commercial, marketing and engineering.
One of our former graduates will be your buddy so they’ll be great support for you, and you’ll have a mentor from our high-performers talent group.
As well as our structured internal development, you’ll also be gaining an ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) qualification.
In partnership with a chosen charity, you’ll develop additional skills whilst giving back to our communities and raising awareness of the charity.
You’ll continue to get exposure to our business, but in different areas.
Your mentor stays with you for the duration of the programme so you can always rely on them to be there if you need them.
As well as putting year one’s training into practice, there’s more internal training and your ILM qualification will continue.
You’ll be given a business challenge sponsored by the COO, and you’ll present your final project to our Board of Directors.
You’ll secure your first full leadership role in Stagecoach, setting you up for a hugely successful career with the business (we’ll let you into a secret… our CEO and COO both worked their way up in our business!)
